The ruins of the Bešenovo monastery are situated in Bešenovački Prnjavor on Fruška Gora alongside the Čikoš stream. The monastery was errected by King Dragutin in the 13th century. The monastery's church was picturesque. The church was built with brick with a cross-shaped foundation and a dome. The monastery's dormatories acquired their three sided look between 1730 and 1771. Data about the icons and the iconostasis is found in 1753. The bell tower was built in the 18th century. There also used to exist a rich monastery vault. This monastery suffered the most tragic destiny of all on Fruška Gora. First it was robbed in WWII and mined only to later suffer bombing that razed it to the ground. Untill this very day the monastery has still not been reconstructed and in its ruins there is only a plaque. To the remains of the Bešenovo monastery one can come from Ruma past the villages of Stejanovac and Bešenovo and continue straight ahead to B. Prnjavor. Make a left turn there and go forward another 100m.
