Divša: with the church of SAINT NICHOLAS

It is located on the southwest slopes of Fruška Gora in an uninhabited and beautiful forest covered valley near Kuveždin and it can be reached by the Ležimir - Vizić road. In the dense woods there is a sign post for a left turn and the monastery is very close. It was errected by despot Jovan Branković at the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th century which is confirmed by its description that dates from 1753. The oldest written mention of the monastery originates from 1566 in Turkish books. During WWII, as many other monasteries in Fruška Gora, it was robbed and damaged. The frescoes were damaged and only parts of them can be seen. The original iconostasis is missing. The monastery's church belongs to the smaller ones and has seven tall and narrow windows. It is active, female and for 27 years now is in the care of two nuns.
